Abstract

The present work deals with the preparation a modified reagents with iminodiacetic acid functional groups, which applied for heavy metals complexation. Also, the work optimize the chemical conditions such as pH, shaking time, ionic strength and maximum up take of each metal and the maximum capacity of the reagents. Their selectivity towards metal ions was also studied. Chromatographic separation of the selected metal ions was investigated using different elution process. Also the work deals with the preparation and uses of bonded polyurethane foam with iminodiacetic acid in extraction of Fe(III) ion. The use of polyurethane foam immoblized with Amberlite IR­120, Amberlite IRA­400, and Alamine 336 for extraction of some metal ions (Au3+, UO22+, Fe3+) with the comparison against the plain foam was also studied.
