Abstract Chromium has been recognized as an environmental pollutant for several years. In the present study, attempts have been made to investigate the biochemical alterations resulted from Crinduced toxicity on liver. Also, histopathological changes in liver. In addition, histochemical alterations in for different types of carbohydrates, proteins and nucleic acids were studied. Vitamin E was used as a potent antioxidant against Crinduced liver toxicity: The present study established that hexavalent chromium in the form of K2Cr2O7 is a toxic heavy metal particularly for liver as confirmed biochemically, histopathologically and histochemically. Also, vit E was found to have an ameliorative effect against K2Cr2O7induced toxicity owing to its antioxidant property. |
