Abstract

In this study, a series of 45 patients with rectal Prolapse were treated. They were complaining of either mass protruding from the rectum or constipation. All patients were subjected to careful history taking and thorough clinical examination through the same questionnaire. All the patients in this study were divided into two groups, group A which include patients who were treated through abdominal approach by rectopexy, and group B which include patients who were treated through perineal approach by Delorm<U+2019>s operation. This study showed that both manometric studies and defecography study were very important in order to rely upon the pathological changes, the type of anorectal problems and the schedule of treatment. Postoperative manometrical studies in both groups showed improvement in resting and squeezing pressure values. Also postoperative defecographic study showed improvement in the anorectal angle in both groups.
