Abstract In the present, in vitro comparative efficacy studies on the addition of Fixatox, antitox <U+2013> plus, tafla, autoclaving, microwave, hydrogen peroxide, ammonia solution and extraction with aqueous methanol (50%) as detoxifying agents to a diet containing 3600 ppb or 1800 ppb total aflatoxins and study aflatoxin productivity from Aspergillus flavus in liquid yeast media in the absence and presence of 0.5% of each of antitox plus, Fixatox, tafla, 1% of ammonia and 3% of hydrogen peroxide. This makes to selection of a proper decomposition method that will effectively decompose aflatoxins and the meantime retain the nutritive quality and the platability of the treated feeds a continuous changeless and it has to be economically feasible and technically applicable. Among the physical and chemical means of detoxification used herein ammonia, hydrogen peroxide and tafla were beneficial in reducing of the present aflatoxin and caused slight or no changes in the chemical composition of feed and appear to be applicable. In vivo study, one hundrad and twenty six albino male rats (average weight of 105 g) were divided into 14 dietary groups. They fed for 21 on a control (RC (Bdiet, C + 0.5 or 1% tafla C + 1 or 3% ammonia (+ 3 or 6% H2O2, C + 1000 ppb aflatoxin (A), A + tafla or ammonia or H2O2 (at the same previous level. Feeding rats contaminated diet alone led to: Decreased in the live body weight (LBW), daily bodygain (daily BWG), feed intake, feed efficiency and increased mortality rate, lower levels of serum total protein, albumin, cholesterol and triglycerides but higher level of serum ureaN, uric acid, creatinine, GOT, GPT and alkaline phosphatase, the relative weights of the internal organs were increased, the histological alteration in liver and kidneys. Addition of tafla, ammonia and hydrogen peroxide to aflatoxin contaminated diets decreased the deleterious effects of aflatoxin on performance and blood parameters and tafla is the best additives to protect against the negative effect of aflatoxin via adsorbing and increased aflatoxin excreted in faeces. |
