Abstract

This thesis has two aims are: The first aim is: build new type of smart web pages, which adapt to different users interests, where users? needs in the web site are different from one person to another, and also change from time to time. The second aim is: facilitate the users? navigation in the site to reach to his aim directly with fewer efforts, also decrease the time spent in the whole site and the money paid in using internet. To achieve the first aim: we show a detailed explanation for the approaches used in building the adaptive web pages, where some of these approaches are used in collecting users? information either provided by themselves by answering some questions, or by observing the users? navigation and record their trace in the web site. After that, analyzing the collected data using different approaches, and suggests some modifications which suitable for different users? needs, either individually or in groups. To achieve the second aim: use the artificial intelligence in applying some changes on the site?s pages, these changes contribute in facilitating the users? arrival to the required page. As a result, save the user?s efforts exerted in the web site and the number of pages traversed to reach to the final goal, and then reduce the money paid for accessing internet. For studying how to analyze the collected data, suggest and apply some suitable changes, then suggest a strategy for designing the adaptive web pages, which try to solve some problems that face the previous approaches. Then design a web site and apply the proposed strategy in its design for studying its performance and its advantages.
