Abstract

Study was done on 104 patients of different age groups, both sex, different stages and different tumor cell types, in which complete assessment by clinical, laboratory, radiological, cystoscopic examination and biopsy followed by detection of p53. All cases were treated by radical radiotherapy on two phases, phase I (whole pelvis aiming at 45 Gy/ 5 weeks) and phase II (whole Bladder aiming at 20 Gy/2 weeks), follow up program and evaluation of the tumor response was done to all patients. Cancer bladder is the tumor of old age (mean age was 65 year). Cancer bladder occurred were frequently in male, positive Bilharzial patients and smoker. P53 overexpression was positive in 47%, there was no significant correlation between p53 and different age groups, gender, Bilharziasis, different stages, different tumor cell types and different pathological grades. There was significant correlation between p53 and response to treatment, over all survival and progression free survival. P53 and stage were the only predicting factors help to predict fovourable outcome and progression, other wise, P53 was the only predicting factor help to predict survival.
