Abstract The present study included 30 patients with proximal hypospadias admitted in Mansoura University Children Hospital during the period May 2002 <U+2013> Feb. 2004. Patients? age at the time of surgery ranged from 15 months <U+2013> 6 years (mean 21m). All patients had the modified Koyanagi technique by Emir et al, 2000 performed for the hypospadias anomalies. Results : Primary success occurred in 18 cases (60%) with accepted cosmetic appearance and adequate sized glanular meatus. Complications occurred in 12 cases (40%). Urethrocutaneous fistula occurred in 8 cases (26.7%), urethral stricture occurred in 1 case (3.3%) . Meatal recession occurred in 3 cases (10%). Conclusion: The modified Koyanagi one stage repair of proximal hypospadias using the meatal based yoke is an innovative technique and fulfills many criteria for predictable successful surgical results. |
