Abstract

Psoriasis is a common disease that affects millions of peoples all over the world. However, a variety of topical and systemic antipsoriatic treatments have been triad but none is without side effects. Coal tar has been used as a standalone treatment for psoriasis or in combination with other therapies. Aloe vera is one of the most popular medical plants. It has anti inflammatory and immune modulatory functions. The aim of this work was to evaluate the efficacy of a mixture of topical aloe vera and coal tar in the treatment of patients with mild to moderate psoriasis. The results revealed that the mixture was well tolerated safe and effective, which suggests its possible use as an alternative treatment for psoriasis vulgaris.
