Abstract

The thesis is divided into introduction, three chapters and conclusion. The introduction shows Lodge<U+2019>s personality, his career, culture, education and works. The first chapter is about the narrative technique as the first rule in Lodge<U+2019>s critical theory and how far other critics agree or disagree with him. The second chapter is about language and how Lodge insisted on the importance of language and explained the available methods to deal with language. The third chapter is about what is behind the composition of each novel and how there are many factors involved in the production of a literary text whether they are social, personal, political or critical. Finally, the thesis reaches the conclusion in which it shows how far Lodge succeeded or failed in applying his rules at his novels.
