Abstract

HCC is highly malignant tumor with a poor diagnosis. Incidence of primary liver tumor in Egypt has greatly increased in recent years according to the Egypt is an endemic area with hepatitis C virus (1220%) and intensively used diethylnitrosamine and/or its precursors. Recent advances has been made in the understanding of molecular events following cellular exposure to ionizing radiations, suggesting that new molecular targets could be used to modulate radioinduced cellular response in order to increase tumor cell lethality after irradiation exposure. It seems that TGFgbs1 and/or AFP may be used as a non invasive marker for early diagnosis of HCC. Finally, This study clarifies the importance of restriction towards the use of DEN and/or its precursors in different fields and this should be considered in the national plan of the Egyptian programs for prevention of liver dysfunction especially HCC. The thesis was found in about 200 pages, formed of 8 parts, contains 18 tables, 91 histograms and large number of recent references, written in English.
