Abstract

Men are responsible for 55% of infertility cases . There are several causes of male infertility such as varicocele, spermatic duct obstruction, endocrine disorders, gonadotoxins, antisperm antibodies, infection, ejaculatory dysfunction infertilities of undetermined causes are described as idiopathic infertilities idiopathic male infertility accounts for over 20% of all male infertility cases . In this study, we demonstrated the presence or absence of microdeletions on infertile cases with azoospermia , oligozoospermia and Klinefilter ?s syndrome and analyzed the prevalence of Y chromosome microdeletions in Egyptian azoospermic , oligozoospermic and Klinfilter males with infertility problem. The present study was conducted on 136 males with idiopathic infertility presented to Genetic Unit , Mansoura University Children Hospital and 49 normal fertile males as a control group. The present study showed that the prevalence of AZF gene deletion was relatively frequent among Egyptian infertile men with idiopathic infertility in comparison to other countries of the world. AZF b and AZF c sub regions are hot spots for microdeletions in our studied patients. The deletion in sY 127 , sY 134 and sY 254 loci were the most frequent overall cases. There is no significant correlation between Y­chromosome deletions and the investigated biochemical and clinical parameters. from this study we conclude that AZF gene microdeletion has to be investigated by molecular techniques beside cytogenetic analysis (karyotyping) in patients with idiopathic infertility.
