Abstract

The present work was carried out to investigate the effect of using sugar beet by products at different levels in experimental rations (25% dried sugar beet pulp as a replacement of concentrate mixture, 12.5% or 25% dried sugar beet tops as a replacement of Berseem hay) on productive and physiological performance of sheep. Feeding trail was carried out using 24 lambs (3/4 Romanof 1/4 Rahmani) aged 5 months. Blood parameters, stages of puberty, semen characteristics, testosterone concentration and scrotal circumference were studied. 4 digestibility trails were carried out using adult Rahmani rams. The present study indicated that the highest value of dry matter and organic matter intake were recorded for lambs in groups B, C and D (Contained sugar beet byproducts) while the highest value of daily weight gain for groups B and C. Blood parameters were in normal range. Groups B (Contained 25% dried sugar beet pulp) and C (Contained 12.5% dried sugar beet tops and 25% dried sugar beet pulp) recorded highest significant values (P<0.05) for almost digestion coefficient and microbial protein yield. While group B (Contained 25% dried sugar beet pulp and 25% dried sugar beet tops) recorded a significant improving in reproductive performance.
