Abstract
In the present investigation, a botanical study of the leaves, stem and root of Monsonia nivea Decne. Webb. was carried out. Also a phytochemical investigation of Monsonia nivea Decne. Webb. aerial parts and Convolvulus hystrix Vahl. root Was carried out and this investigation afforded 18 compounds from which 15 compound are isolated for the first time from the species and genera of the plants. The structures of these compounds were identified using their physical and chemical properties and the different spectroscopic techniques viz., UV, IR, 1HNMR, 13CNMR and HMBC, MS and GC/MS. The antioxidant, antimicrobial screening and DNA binding activity were carried out for the extracts and also for some of the pure compounds isolated from both plants.
