Abstract

The present study deals with the geology, the geomorphology, the hydrogeology and the hydrochemistry of the Nile Delta area, determination of the geological relationships and ground water boundary condition between the relative aquifers.statistical and mathematical analyses for the water budget, detailed hydrochemical studies on representative samples allover the area, detection of the salt water intrusion along the northern periphery, determination and drawing the freshsaline interface, determination of the different sources of ground water pollution and their impact on the environmental hazards, and sustainable of water utilization. Analysis of meteorological data of the Nile Delta area was treated to determine the relationship and effects on the hydrological cycle in the area of study. Several maps and profiles have been constructed to illustrate land use map of the Nile Delta area, geomorphologic units for the Nile Delta area, geological map for the Nile Delta area, geological cross sections in the Nile Delta area, the lithostratigraphic column in the Nile Delta area, isopach map of Mit Ghamr Formation, isopach map of Bilqas Formation, geometry of the aquifer, water bearing sediments, thickness and lithologic variations, piezometric head variation, graphical representation of meteorological data for the area of study, water level contour map, geological cross sections, main surface water bodies in the Nile Delta area, salinity distribution, major ions distribution such as (K+, Na+, Mg++, Ca++, Cl, SO4, HCO3). Comments have been made for the pollution of the groundwater. Furthermore, the suitability of such groundwater for irrigation, drinking, industrial, domestic purposes has been also discussed. from these multipurposes, several conclusions have been achieved.
