Abstract Sixty sound human premolars, recently extracted in the course of orthodontic treatment, were collected and stored in formaldehyde solution. The teeth selected fulfilled the following criteria: intact buccal enamel, no cracks from the extraction forceps as evident by the naked eye, and finally not subjected to any pre treatment chemicals such as hydrogen peroxide. The teeth were cleaned with rubber prophylactic cup and non fluorited pumice. The sample were divided into three groups, each will be consisted of twenty premolars. For the first group, the brackets were applied directly to the enamel surface using Bistite SC for ten premolars and Relay abond for the remaining ten premolars. For the second group, the brackets were bonded to the ceramic veneers using Bistite II SC adhesive resin cement. For the third group, the brackets were bonded to the ceramic veneers using Relay aBond Reliance, porcT.M Etch and porcelain conditioner. CONCLUSIONS 1) Bistite II SC and Relay on bond can be used efficiently on both enamel and porcelain crowns. 2) Bistite II SC has the advantage of a longer working time than Relay on composite. 3) Another advantage is that; Bistite can be used on both glazed and non glazed porcelain, but Relay oncomposite is better used on non glazed porcelain. 4) Further researches, especially on a clinical basis, may provide more knowledge of the subject. |
