Abstract
The aim of the present work is to study the early effects of pra- ziquantel on echocordiographic left ventricular functions in hepa-tosplenic bilharzial patients with active intestinal and / or urinary hilharziasis with and without hilharzial corpulmonale. The study comprised 72 hepatoSPlenic hilharzial patients, 15 without corpulmonale and 7 with hilharzial corpulmonale. examination beside investiqations including urine and stood analysis,rectal mucosal biopsy, chest together with electrocardiographic and echocardiographic stu-di es. All patients received single oral dose of praziquantel (4 tablets 600 mg each) and an ECG and an Echogram were done 4 hours after therapy. Left ventricular functions regarding left ventricular dimension and left ventricular performance o ndices after praziquantel as compared to before.Left ventricular cnntractility indices showed non-significant Left ventricular cnntractility indices showed non-significant.
