Abstract The material of the present study comprised 70 patients with 4 of the most common non-leukemic malignancy, namely : Hodgkin’s disease ( 22 cases ), non-Hodgkin lymphoma (18 cases) neuroblastoma ( 24 cases) and Wilm’s tumour ( 6 cases ). These cases were diagnosed and treated, during the last seven years, in the Hematology Unit of Pediatrics Departement, Mansoura University Hospital. Thourough analysis of clinical, peripheral blood and bone marrow data was carried out. Peripheral blood and bone marrow data were compared with those of the control group ( 15 children). The results of this study are the following. A significant decrease in the mean value of blood Hb and R.B.Cs in all groups of diseased children. Bone marrow aspiration smears were diagnostic of bone marrow infilteration in 3 cases of neuroblastoma with rosette formation., A significant decrease in the mean value of bone marrow promyelocytes in neuroblastoma group. A significant decrease in the mean value of bone marrow myelocytes in Hodgkin’s disease and neuroblastoma groups. A significant decrease in the mean value of metamyalocytes in Hodgkin’s disease,non-Hodgkin lymphoma and neurobla¬stoma groups. |
