Abstract
In this work l6 patients of hepatic failure under
l.dopa therapy were studied clinically .neurologically,
electrophysiologically and the laboratory investiga-
tions, with the aim to clarify any correlation between
the biochemical, clinical and electrophysiological
changes that can occur in such patients. We selected
for our study l6 patients of hepatic failure from in
patients admitted at medical and neurology depar-
tments, Mansoura University Hospital. In addition 10
cases as control group from gastroentrology surgical
unit.
2’he age range was 28-b3 years, 15 of them were
dales and one was female. The age range for the con-
trol group 22-55 years, 9 males, one was fem&le.
Cases were classified according to the presence or
absence of neurological mainfestations and the level
of consciousness into 4 groups; Hepatic coma, hepatic
precoma, portosystemic encephalopathy , and liver
affection without clinically evident neurological
manifestations as control group.
