Abstract
The adrenal gland are two small flattened bodies yellowish colour, situated one on each side of the median plane immediately above and in front of the upper end of the kidney The gland consists of two parts, each has a separate embryological origin. The cortex has three zones, from without inward : zona glomerulosa, zona The cortex has three zones, fasiculata zona reticulosa• The adrenal cortex functions as different end.ocrine glands. One secretes mineralo corticoid ( aldosteron ), which regulates the electrolyteb and extra cpllular fluid. The other part of the cortex secretes glucocorticoidS chiefly ( cortisol ) which helps to sustain blood Sugar, blood pressure and it protects against stress. And also secretes adrenal sex hormones, chiefly androgen. The adrenal gland is essential to life, without it, blood volume, blood pressure and blood sugar fall. Muscles weaken and resistance to effects of noxious stimuli collapses. rhe gland is considered as the organ .
