Abstract
The present study was carried out to identify the organisms responsible for dacryocystitis, to show the pathological factors that could lead to dacryocystitis and to evaluate the different procedures for its ma-nagement. 60 patients with dacryocystitis have been managed and classified into 3 groups: Group I : Congenital dacryocystitis (21 patients). Group II: Acquired acute dacryocystitis (6 patients). Group III: Acquired chronic dacryocystitis (33 patie-nts). Management of 60 patients with dacryocystitis. a. Q1inical Examination and Investigations 1- Clinical examination of the area overlying the sac region, regurgitation test and the dye test. 2- Nose and sinuses examination. 3- Syringing of the lacrimal passage. 4- Bacteriological examination for the regurgitated fluid, conjunctival sac and the nasal cavity.
