Abstract

This study was carried out on fifteen allergic asthmatic children from lergy and Clinical Immunology, Mansoura university Hospital . Eight of em were of moderate asthma and seven were of severe asthma. e diagnosis of asthma was achieved by : Thorough history and clinical diagnosis by presence of two or more of the following symptoms : recurrent wheezes, cough, chest tightness, dyspnea and sputum . Plain x - ray chest to rule out other pulmonary pathology . lhe clinical types of asthma were diagnosed by : Skin test by intradermal method for the common allergens : house dust , house dust mite , cotton dust, mixed pollens, straw, hay dust and wool. Total serum IgE level. Medication that were used to control symptoms . Performance . Number of nocturnal asthmatic attacks. The specific injectable immunotherapy ( SIT) was given to every patient ’in this study by gradually increasing concentrations of allergen extract to which the patient is sensitive, twice weekly, starting by a concentration of 1/10000, ”1/1 000 then 1 II 00 aquous solution . In each concentrations we gave small amount of allergen and increase the amount gradually till we reach 1 - ml of aquous solution of allergen extract. This extract was injected subcutaneously in the lateral aspect of upper arms or dorsal aspect of forearms using tuberculin patient was evaluated before, after and between injections patient’s condition and any reaction to allergen injected.
