Abstract The nearly copistant finding of encysted metacercariae of heterophyid parasites in both fresh and brackish water fish commonly consumed by the inhabitants of Dakahleia Governorate, as an important source of protein stimulated the study of identification and redescription of different adultheterb¬phyid worms. The morphological differences in Heterophyes heterophyes adult worms yielded after experimental feeding of different fish intermediate hosts to pupp i es were studied as an example to heterophyid parasites. The morphological differences of Heterophyes heterophyes adult worms yielded after feeding of different experimental animal hosts viz. •puppies, cats and albino rats on Mugil cephalus were studied. Also the histopathological changes occuring in the intestin~ and extra-intestinal organs of pupp~es infected with HeterQ¬phye~ heterophyes were studied. The morphology, the monthly prevalence and intensity of ’ heterophyid encysted metacercariae were done in brackish water fish, Mugil cephalus, Mugil capito, Mugil auratus, Tilapia n.iJ:otica and Tilapia ~illi from Manzalla lake and in fresh water fish, Tilapia nilotica and Tilapia zilli from River Nile and its main tributaries at Mansoura area. The small size of heterophyid eggs that may be overlooked on stool examination and the occasional occurrence of ectopic. |
