Abstract Twenty duodenal ulcer patients, 85 % of them were males and 15 % were females. Their age ranged from 30-70 years (average 42.5 years). Five nonnal males were investigated as a control group. All patients were sUbjected to thorough clinical examina¬tion and investigations as complete blood picture, serum creatinine, liver functions, barium meal, gastro duodenoscopy and gastric acidity. The patients were divided into four groups group I I Had undergone truncal vagotomy and pyloro¬plasty • group II I Had undergone truncal vagotomy and gastro.j,e¬junostomy • group III I Had undergone parietal cell vagotomy • group IV : Had under gone polyagastrectomy • The time of complete gastric emptying using thick barium paste was measured preoperative, 2 weeks and one month postoperatively • |
