Abstract
The subjects of the present study were chosen from the inpatient sections of the Psychiatric Department of Mansoura University Hospitals in the peroid from January 1996 to June 1996. They were divided into the following groups: Group (I): patients with schizophrenia (20) Group (II): patients with schizoaffective disorder (20)IIa-bipolar subtype (11) IIb-depressive subtype (9) Group (III): patients with Mood (Affective) disorder IIIa- bipolar, manic (20) IIIb- unipolar, depressive (20) All of patients were diagnosed according to DSM-IV. They had undergone clinical evaluation and scaling procedures. Our results illustrated the fOllowing: (A) Sociodemographic characteristics: no significant difference were found among the subject groups except for education. (8) Some clinical characteristics: age at onset for schizoaffectives was older than schizophrenics and younger than affectives.
