Abstract Obesity is known to be associated with multi- ple complication especially diabetes mellitus. The aim of this study was to evaluate the glucose tolerance in obesity and to correlate the serum lipids (Cholesterol, free fatty acids and triglycerides) to their blood glucose levels. The material of this study included eighteen obese females, tweleve obese male patients and ten control subjects. All were subjected to thorough clinical examination, stressing on signs and symptoms of hypertension, family history of diabetes mellitus, symptoms and signs suggestive of diabetes mellitue. All the studied obese patients were of severly obese degree according to the cri~eria of Dillon, (1973). The present result revealed constent hyper¬glycaemia in obese patients. |
