Abstract In recent years scientific evidences accumulates on the nutrrtiorie I and immunological properties of breast as well as on the effect of breast feeding on function and mother-child bonding. Concern is increasing about the possible effect of a in breast feeding on well-being of children especially in the developing countries. This study was carried out to describe pattern of breast feeding among mothers in Dakahlia governorate and the relationship between these patterns and socioeconomic characteristics and reproduction including return of menstruation. Jrban and rural areas were chosen and a questionnaire was designed for use in interview with mothers having children aged 18-24 months. The present study showed that more than 90% of mothers breast fed their babies with no significant difference in percent of mothers who breast fed their babies between urban and rural areas in pakahlia governorate. The main reasons for not to breast feed were no or insufficjent milk. nipple and. breast problems and itlness of the mother or the child. |
