Abstract

Kidney transplaantation in the rat is a model frequently used in transplatation research and experimental microvascular surgery. Experimental organ transplantion in the rat is relevant in its own right, but gets special significance from deing a model for clinical transplantation. The rat is especially useful in this respect, since no other species is suitable for microsurgery and at the same time has been studied immunologically and genetically in such detail.
