Abstract
The most outstanding chemical property of 2-pyrazolin-5-ones is the reactivity of the hydrogen atom at c-4 one the purposes of the present work was to exploit the characteristic features of 4-(hydroxymethyl)-1-phenyl1-3-methyl1-2-pyrazolin-5-one (1) towards the synthesis of novel chemical structures along the following lines.
