Abstract The aged people are prone to many diseases especially hypertension. B-blockers have been used increasingly in the treatment of hypertension. Aging is associated with altered pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of the drugs. Eiderly patient will handle or respond to certain group of drugs differently than younger patients(Gerber & Brass, 1990) . The present work is a comparative study of the effect of therapeutic doses of different B-blockers in elderly versus younger hypertensives on some haemodynamic, electrocardiographic parameters and the changes in mood and cognitive functions.
