Abstract The main objective of this work is to evaluate the effects of Norplant contraceptive subdermal implant system on liver funciton tests in bilharzial and non bilharzial women. The material of the present study comprised 80 ladies attending the fertility care unit at Mansoura University Hospital asking for long acting contraception. They accepted Norplant contraceptive subdermal implants as a method of long acting contraception. All ladies were subjected to the following before insertion of Norplant:- (l) Medical evaluation including history taking and medical examination. (2) Laboratory assessment: including urine and stool analysis for bilharzial ova, liver function tests, lHA for bilharziasis, & serology for hepatitis. In the present work, we found significant increase in serum albumin 3 and 6 months of the Norplant insertion in non bilharzial group. Also, there was significant increase in serum bilirubin 3) 6 months after Norplant insertion in non bilharzial group. |
