The current study aimed at exploring the role of rural woman in socialization process by analyzing the relationships between the variables affecting the socialization process and by identifying the main problems that face the socialization process. Also, the current study aimed at presenting a comprehensive analysis for the case study of a group of rural women which owned income generating projects. Moreover, the study tried to present a comprehensive analysis for rural woman’s political participation in the study community.
To achieve the previous objectives, the study was conducted in five villages at rural Dakahlia Governorate. To study the role of rural woman in socialization, a random sample amounting to 197 rural women was selected (80 rural women from Meet EL-Akrad village and 117 from Mahalat Damanah village). To study the role of rural woman in political participation, 30 and 50 rural women were selected from Mahalat Damanah and Meet EL-Akrad respectively by using Rapid Rural Appraisal (PRA). Additionally, a sample of 12 rural women was chosen from Shoha, Salamoon and Meniat Sandoob villages in order to carry out a case study on income generating projects that they owned.
Three techniques of data collection were used in the current study. These techniques are:
•First Technique: collecting data by using personal interview questionnaire. This technique was used to collect the data corresponds to role of rural woman in socialization. A questionnaire was designed including the following variables:
1.Personal Variables Group: This group includes age, educational level, marital status, occupation, monthly income, and family size.
2.Family Variables Group: This group includes family, social values, and social class.
3.Communicational Variables Group: This group includes communication means, and communicating with officials in rural community.
4.Organizational Variables Group: This group includes educational organization, youth organization and religion organization.
5.Friendship, Knowledge and Interest Variables Group: This group includes play group and friends in addition to interesting with community issues.
Also, the questionnaire includes a special part concerning the measurement of socialization based on several dimensions in addition to a part related to the obstacles of socialization process.
•Second Technique: This technique concerned with case study of income generating projects managed by rural woman. A preliminary guide for case study was designed including the following items:
1.Project owners and her characteristics.
2.Project description.
