Abstract
The present work attempts to throw some light on the seismotectonics of northern Egypt - Libya and eastern Mediterranean, i. e to relate the earthquake activity to major tectonic elements in the region. In addition to synthesize to the previous studies about geology and structural setting of the region, the author studied the spatial distribution for recent earthquake activity, focal mechanisms for moderate to large recent shocks, statistical characterstics of earthquake activity. these studies were conducted for northern Egypt - Libya and eastern Mediterranean.
