Abstract

The main results and conclusions of the qualitative and quantitative interpretations of the aeroradiometric survey data could be summarized in the followings. 1- The aeroradioactivity measurements recorded over the study area vary widely from one type of rock to another, and to a more or less extent between the units of the same rock type. This wide variation (from about 1 to 25 Ur) reflects the fact that the study area is almost covered by basement rocks of various composition. 2- The aeroradiometric contour map was divided and coloured into five levels of radioactivity to help differentiate the various types of rocks. These levels are not so sharp to show various rock types distinctly, but the levels characterizing these rock type differences merge into one another to different degrees and serve as criteria to map the different lithological units.
