Abstract This study improved the estimation of the calculating absorbed does by measuring the absorbed activity in the target organs. Using the optimum condition for collecting data (best acquisition parameters) and apply it on the patients imaging. Now, the introduced approach established, to the first time, the physical meaning of region of interest in nuclear medicine. Use the patient’s image to draw regions of interest around a pixel having the maximum count at areas 5 x 5 and 7 x7 pixels and average the count in both. Applying this new approach for different activates, it is easy to estimate the activity in any lesion of patient image from the relation between counts and used activity. Finally, we calculate the absorbed dose by the MIRD using the following steps 1. Convert count to activity in micro curie, using an equation obtained from plotting the relation between counts and activities. 2. Calculate the initial activity using the obtained relation. 3. Calculate the absorbed dose using the MIRD equation |
