Abstract Patients with chronic .renal failure (CRF) are reported to have an increased incidence of superficial gastritis and duodenitis, peptic ulceration and upper gastrointestinal haemorrhage, in addition. To gastrointestinal symptoms as an early manifestation of uraemia. Hellcobacter pylori( h.pylori)a gram-negative spiral bacterium, has been shown to be associated with superficial gastritis and duode-nitis. Since patients with renal failure have been shown an are increased gastric urea concentration, they may be more susceptible to colouization with h. pylori as these bacteria convert the excess gastric urea content to ammonia and so survive in an otherwise in hospitable environment. This work represents a prospective study on end stage renal failure patients on regular haemodialysis awaiting for kidney transplantation in the Urology and Nephrology Center, Mansoura University, Our objectives were to clarify the incidence of gastric H.pylori colonization in CRF and to study its association with endoscopic findings and histologic abnormal it les using different methods of iden- tification. The material of this research comprised seventy five end stage renal failure Egyptian patients on haemodialysis treatment Twenty five non uraemic patients with upper gastrointestinal symptoms were used as a control group. |
