Abstract A total of one hundred random samples of raw milk and butter ( 50 samples of each) were collected from different localities in El-Dakhalia Governorate to be examined for the occurrence of Pseudomonas spp. using a Pseudomonas selective medium, to study the lipolytic and proteolytic activities of Pseudomonas strains, and to study antibiotic sensitivity of isolated Ps. aeruginosa strains. Pseudomonas spp. count in raw milk was ranged from 102 to 1.2 x 106 with a mean value of 2.6 x 105 cfu/ml. while in butter ranged from 2 x 10 to 2.4 x 104 with a mean value 1.3 x 103 cfu/ml. Pseudomonas strains recovered from examined raw milk samples were Ps. fluorescens, Ps. aeruginosa, Ps. putida, Ps.Frag,Ps.capacia and Ps. alcaligenes. While in butter samples were Ps. Fragi,Ps, Fluorescens and Ps. aeruginosa Of 85 isolated Pseudomonas spp. from raw milk samples, 74 Pseudomonas strains were showed proteolyic activity when plated on skim milk agar. All Pseudomonas isolated from butter samples were showed proteolytic activity.64 Pseudomonas strains were showed lipolytic activity using Victoria blue butter fat agar in raw milk while in butter 8 of 9 isolates showed lipolytic activity. The antibiogram of the isolated Ps. aeruginosa from raw milk and butter samples revealed that all tested Ps. aeruginosa strains were resisted to all the following antibiotics, Streptomycin; Ampicillin; Oxytetracyclin; Neomycin; Enrofloxacin; Amoxicillin and Erythromycin. While these isolates were sensitive to Gentamycin; Kanamycin; Ciprofloxacin and Colistin. |
