Abstract Nine species of monogenean gill parasites and four ergasilid copepods are detected on the gills of the four cichlid fish species; Oreochromis aureus, O. niloticus, Sarotherodon galilaeus and Tilapia zillii . In addition to one stomach parasite, one dignean and two acanthocephalans are recovered from their gastrointestinal tract . A detailed morphological and anatomical studies have been made these collected parasitic species. Furthermore, a survey has been done and a detailed account to the general and seasonal fluctuations of the prevalence and mean intensity of the studied parasites has been given. The prevalence and mean intensity of the investigated parasites and its influence on the host biotic factors; body length, age, sex as well as the host biological parameters, body condition, hepatic index, gondao-somatic index and maturation has also been done. Finally, correlation analysis of the relationship between pairs of the studied parasites was clarified. Statistical analysis has been done and the results have been discussed . |
