Abstract
Stored grains are considered one of the most important sources of human food so it was necessary to study the pests which attack them leading to high economic losses .A complete survey was carried out in 4 localities in Dakahlia Governorate on 8 crop samples and the results showed that 10 species of insects and 44 species of mites were inhabit crops in Dakahlia Governorate . Another experiments was carried out in store to study the population dynamic of insects and mites on 3 main crops which are rice, maize and bran, the results showed that the appearance and disappearance of the collected insects and mites depends on biotic factors as other insects ,mites and fungi, and abiotic factors as maximum and minimum temperature and relative humidity. A laboratory experiments were carried out to control cowpea beetle (Callosobruchus maculates) with many types of alternatives , theses alternatives include natural materials , microbial control, plant oils and plant extracts .The results showed that the mortality increase with the increasing of concentration and exposure period .The most effective materials against cowpea beetle were katel sous, diatomaceous earth, black pepper, jojoba oil and extracts of cress seeds.
