Abstract The present investigation was a trial to achieve the best growth, seed yield and mucilage content of Plantago ovata Forsk (isabgol) through studying the effect of farmyard manure, biofertilizers and green waste compost as well as their interactions. Two field experiments were carried out in the Experimental Station and Laboratory of the Vegetable Crops and Ornamental Plants Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Mansoura Univ., Egypt, during the two successive seasons of 2002/03 and 2003/04. The first experiment was to study the effect of farmyard manure and biofertilizers. The second was to study the effect of green waste compost and biofertilizers. * This study revealed the following results :- 1- The combined treatment of the high GWC dose and Rhizobacterein inoculation gave the highest nitrogen percentage followed by the combined treatment of the high GWC dose and inoculating with Microbein. However, the combined treatment of the high GWC dose and inoculating with Phosphorein gave the highest percentage of phosphorus and potassium followed by the combined treatment of the high GWC dose and inoculating with Microbein. 2- It is clear that Rhizobacterein gave results nearly similar to those obtained by Microbein for the two experiments. |
