Abstract Twenty indviduals attending the out patient clinic of Rheu-matology at mansoura university Hospital Plus ten healthy volun-selected for this study All patients and volunteers were throughlY examined clinical-ly and were subdivided into the following groups on clinical,la-boratory as well as radiological back ground :1-cntrol group 2-osteoarthritic group 3-Rheumatoid group. The activities of serum and synovial lysosomal enzymes were the lysosomal enzymes included cathepsin B,cathepsinD,acid phosphatase, totalB-NAG as well as its isoenzmes.The level of malondialdehyde was also measured as an indi-cator of free radical activity.Based on the results obtained in this thesis, it is apparentthat.Free radicals activity as manifested by measuring the level of malondialdehyde (p mol MDA / ml / h),showed high significant increase in rheumatoid arthritis group compared with control and osteoarthritic groups this icrease was Manifested both in serum as well as in synovial fluid. |
