Abstract Diabetic neuropathy is a common complication of diabetes mellitus, leading to great morbidity and mortality and an increase in the economic burden of public health. Diabetic neuropathy is a heterogeneous disorder affecting the sensory, motor and autonomic nerves. It can be focal or diffuse, proximal or distal. Patients with peripheral neuropathy are at risk of neuropathic complications such as Charcot’s arthropathy or foot ulceration.Two abnormalities from symptoms, signs, nerve conduction abnormalities or QST abnormalities are required to diagnose diabetic neuropathies. There are different therapeutic approaches to the treatment of diabetic neuropathy. |
