Abstract
Drug analysis, in general, attempts to identify and quantify all of the significant constituents in drugs.
In this thesis, we have chosen certain acetylene derivatives which are used medically as sedativehypnotics. These are; ethchlorvynol, ethinamate and methylpentynol carbamate.
This thesis consists of five chapters, which can be sought of as either separate testing entities or as continuous chapters. The work is classified into:
Part 1
This part comprises a general literary review on physical, chemical properties, methods of preparation of the acetylenic hypnotics and different methods used for their analysis.
Part II
It deals with identification and determination of the acetylenic hypnotics via acetylenic hydrogen using silver ions.Again this part is classified into three main subdivisions.
