Abstract
This study was conducted to assess the results of treating rotator cuff tears using arthroscopic repair and assess the advantages and disadvantages of this technique. Thirty patients with Rotator cuff tears were included is this study all of them have been subjected to thorough history taking, detailed physical examination and different radiological examinations including plain x-rays and MRI and all of them received an adequate course of conservative treatment before they are subjected to surgical treatment by arthroscopic repair. By the arthroscopy technique; we first inspect the glenohumeral joint then detect any associated pathology. Then shift the scope to the subacromial space and perform subacromial bursectomy and then perform acromioplasly and resection of the coracoacromial ligament,then the rotator cuff repaired using the suture anchors. We obtain satisfactory results in 24cases (80%) and unsatisfactory results in 6 cases (20%). Using the UCLA score, we obtain 11excellent results (36.7%), 13 good results (43.3 %) and 6 poor results (20%).
