Abstract This study was carried out for 60 elderly controlled hypertensive patients aging above 60 years, Patients were randomly allocated into two groups (each = 30): group I in which we used endotracheal tube and group II in which we used LMA. There were statistically significant changes in the haemodynamic parameters between the two groups, Most of the patients showed no or slight resistance during insertion of the LMA. As regards to postoperative complications, vomiting was more observed in group II , while other postoperative complications were observed only in group I. In conclusion this study proved that in hypertensive patients the insertion of LMA induces less heamodynamic changes that last for a shorter time than tracheal intubation. |
