Abstract

This study was carried out for 60 elderly controlled hypertensive patients aging ‎above 60 years, Patients were randomly allocated into two groups (each = 30): ‎group I in which we used endotracheal tube and group II in which we used LMA. ‎‎ There were statistically significant changes in the haemodynamic parameters ‎between the two groups, Most of the patients showed no or slight resistance ‎during insertion of the LMA. As regards to postoperative complications, vomiting ‎was more observed in group II , while other postoperative complications were ‎observed only in group I. In conclusion this study proved that in hypertensive ‎patients the insertion of LMA induces less heamodynamic changes that last for a ‎‎ shorter time than tracheal intubation.‎
