Abstract The purpose of the present study was to apply new language techniques to be used at the language laboratory that might enhance EFL students’ oral fluency, and to compare the effectiveness of the traditional technique on developing the students’ oral fluency. Method: The study is an experimental study that used a questionnaire , a speaking test and an assessment scale of oral fluency as the instruments of the study The sample of the study were 3 hundred first year students of the English Department. The findings of the research showed that the comparison of the control and the experimental groups revealed that there was no significant difference between the two groups in oral fluency before conducting the experiment. This indicates that the effect of the language laboratory on students’ oral fluency is either minimal or not existent. In addition, the effect of visual aids in developing oral fluency was surprisingly high. |
