Abstract

• Renal system is altered significantly during pregnancy to levels that would be considered pathologic in a nonpregnant individ¬ual. • Kidney disease of whatever severity considered a major impediment to asuccesful gestation. • Urinary tract infections are the most frequent renal complication encountered during pregnancy. • Acute renal failure (ARF) has for decades been a life threatening complication of pregnancy. The mortality remains significant in the acute period, and progression to end stage renal failure is not exceptional. • As regard pregnancy with preexisting renal disease, Pregnant women with mild preexisting renal disease have relatively few complications of pregnancy, but the risks of maternal and obstetrical complications in women with moderate or severe renal insufficiency remain uncertain. • For women on maintenance dialysis, pregnancy is still uncommon which may be related to uremia or to comorbidities of chronic renal failure. • In transplanted patient, pregnancy does not appear to have generally an adverse effect on the long term survival of renal allografts. • Hypertensive disorders are one of the most common medical complications of pregnancy.Throughout the world, hypertensive disorders are a major cause of maternal and perinatal mortality and morbidity.
