The Problem is stated in the following question :
What is the effect of using metacognitive strategies in developing some map skills in geography for first year students at secondary school ? from this main question, stem the following sub-questions :
1 – What are suitable metacognitive strategies for first year students at secondary school ?
2 – What are suitable map skills for first year students at secondary school ?
3 – What is the proposed framework of map skills unit ?
4 – What is the effect of using metacognitive strategies in developing:
A - Some map skills for first year students at secondary school ?
B - Achievement for first year students at secondary school ?
C - Awareness of metacognitive strategies for first year students at secondary school ?
The Study Curriculum :
The researcher used the descriptive curriculum aiming at study the effect of using metacognitive strategies in developing some map skills and achievement for first year students at secondary school by collecting, classifying, assessing, and interpreting the data . The researcher has used the experimental curriculum as he has experimented map skills unit and the tools of the study on the study sample .
The Goal of the Study :
1 – Recognition of the effect of using metacognitive strategies in developing some map skills for first year students at secondary school .
2 - Recognition of the effect of using metacognitive strategies in developing achievement for first year students at secondary school .
3 - Recognition of the effect of using metacognitive strategies in developing awareness of metacognitive strategies accompanied by map skills for first year students at secondary school.
