Abstract The present wok was carried out to evaluate the in vitro and in vivo antibacterial activivty of pefloxacin against Aermomnas hyDROPhilo psthogen in Clarias lazera fish with especial reference to their effect on some biochemical parameters and determination of pefloxacin concentrations in serum, liver, kidney and muscle of clinically healthy and experimentally infected fish at different time intervals using microbiological assay. This work was carried out on 170 Clarias lazera fish with an average weight of 200 gm. A first, 4 groups (each of 10 fish) were allocated to determine the in vivo and in vitro efficacy. Then, another 4 groups (each of 10 fish) were used to determine the effect of this drugs on some biochemical parameters, fish in all 8 groups the received a therapeutic dose of pefloxacin (10mg/kg). Another 2 groups (each of 45 fish) were designed to determine the concentrations of pefloxacin at different time intervals in serum, liver, kidney and muscles. The in vitro and in vivo antibacterial activity of pefloxcin was evaluated against A.hyDROPhila pathogen, The in vitro activity indicated that pefloxacin was effective in vitro against that microorganism with MIC 0.3μg /ml |
