Abstract The thesis proposes a comparative study of the concept of violence in Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire and Suddenly Last Summer and Sarah Kane’s Blasted and Phaedra’s Love. The thesis is divided into: Introduction, four chapters and a conclusion. Chapter (1) The Rebellious Puritan and the angry girl of the Nineties, deals with the two playwrights’ live. Chapter (2) The Concept of Sexuality in Relation to Desire and the Prevailing Concept of Masculinity. It deals with sexual violence in their plays. Chapter (3) The Spiritual Quest in relation to Violence handles the concept of God. Chapter (4) Love as a Destructive and saving power shows love in relation to violence. The conclusion sums up the findings |
