Abstract

The present infestation was carried out at Aga district, Dakahlia Governorate in cotton fields during 2005/2006 and 2006/2007 seasons to evaluate the role of the parasitoids associated with this pest. In addition to evaluate the efficiency of Trichogramma evanescens release in comparison with the recommended chemical insecticide program. Also, some biological aspects of the parasitoid Exeristes roborator (F.) were investigated under laboratory conditions.
The obtained results could be summarized as follow :-
1)The ectoparasitoid, E.roborator and parasirola sp approued to be the main mortality factors on diapausing P. gossypiella larve. So, it could be used in IPM programs for their hosts.
2)The insect predators, Orius spp., Scymnus sp and chrysoperla carnea promise to be a good biological agent against the P.gossypeill in the field.
3)The egg- parasitoid, T. evanescens exhibited high efficiency against P. gossypiella population. So, it could be used in IPM program for this pest.
4)The tested insecticides caused considerable reduction of PBW infestation. Unfortunately, they significantly reduced the role of parasitoids and predators associated with on P. gossypiella population.
